Gene Tagaban is a storyteller, cultural educator, healer and artist who has spent more than 35 years sharing teachings, stories and practices rooted in Indigenous traditions. Through his work, Gene fosters healing, connection and cultural understanding with tribal and Indigenous communities, universities, schools, museums, faith communities, environmental organizations, prisons and detention centers.
A trainer and board member with the Native Wellness Institute, Gene is dedicated to preserving and sharing ancestral wisdom. He also serves as a cultural consultant with Mother Nation and the Seattle Indian Health Board’s Traditional Indian Healing and Medicines program, supporting Native individuals, families and communities.
Passionate about nature connection and healing, Gene has collaborated with wilderness and cultural education programs and has been a featured presenter at storytelling and folk festivals across the United States and internationally. He is also a vocalist and Native flutist with the Seattle-based Native funk band Khu.eex’. Through storytelling, music and ceremony, Gene inspires people of all ages to build deeper relationships with themselves, one another and the natural world.
