Harry Pickens is a jazz pianist, composer, author, and educator whose music invites listeners into deep presence. He has performed internationally alongside jazz legends including Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Henderson, and James Moody. Over the years his work has grown toward a single question: how music and mind can help people heal, connect, and live with greater compassion.
A certified Havening Techniques® practitioner and trainer and a ProEFT Master, Harry combines contemplative practice, applied neuroscience, and the art of improvisation to help people move from fear toward safety, resilience, and wholeness. He is the author of In Tune: Lessons in Life from a Life in Music and the subject of the Emmy-nominated KET documentary Harry Pickens in the Garden of Music. His honors include the Kentucky Governor’s Award for the Arts in Education and the Fund for the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award. A longtime Louisvillian, he believes music is one of humanity’s oldest languages of prayer.
