Sara Louise Callaway currently serves as Executive Director of the Louisville Academy of Music (LAM), a non-profit school that provides equitable music education that nurtures lifelong learners, not solely as musicians but also as creative, inspired people. She stays active as a performer and recently joined the International Florence Price Festival Board – promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in classical music. She has recorded with musicians such as Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Stephen Vitiello, Tim Barnes, and the NouLou Chamber Players as well as released a solo album with Auralgami Sounds. Sara holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Violin Performance from the University of North Carolina and received further training at The Berlin University of the Arts, The International Music Academy at Pilsen, the Heifetz Institute, and Appalshop.
She is inspired by the young people in her life – the students at LAM and her 6 and 7 year old sons who remind her “How we spend our days is how we spend our lives.” (Annie Dillard)
